You raise an important point here. There are very serious - and often very legitimate - debates to be had about politics, society, and video games. I don't think games can escape that lens.

But at the same time, it's important to recognise that when you're having a debate with someone - or just talking online - that person is a human like you, with needs, wants, and fears. They deserve a basic level of respect and dignity, even if you disagree strongly with them.
