The only time I find "cheating" concerning is when it involves other players.
But when you're playing something on your own and you need some help - why not, use guides/walkthroughs as much as you like.
I did this for Castlevania II on NES. There's absolutely no way I was going to deal with that game's obtuse fuckery. I don't have the time or the patience. But I did want to play it and experience it nonetheless. So I used an awesome online walkthrough. Far from diminishing the experience, it enabled me to play a classic that I'd otherwise have avoided.
