Greetings! It’s been a little while since you heard from us on Medium. In case you haven’t heard the news, SUPERJUMP officially became independent last month. You can read more about our reasons for leaving right here.

After around a month of independence, I’m pleased to say that SUPERJUMP is firing on all cylinders. I’m very grateful that a staggering 155 writers decided to follow us to our new site.

I thought it would be a good idea to reach out to our Medium audience and invite you to visit our shiny new site. You can find us at superjumpmagazine.com.

Here’s just a small sample of the outstanding stories we continue to publish. These are all exclusive to the new SUPERJUMP.

Applying Usability Heuristics to Undertale

by Maria Meireles

SUPERJUMP is famous for our in-depth Games UX stories. Our new site debuted with a brilliant Games UX piece by the ultra-talented Maria Meireles, in which she explores indie-classic Undertale through the lens of usability heuristics.

Disco Elysium: Hope in the Face of Despair

by Cat Bussell

We have published several deep, insightful explorations of the indie mega hit Disco Elysium. This latest piece — by SUPERJUMP newcomer Cat Bussell — is a gorgeous read, whether or not you’ve played the game.

Ridge Racer: A Series Retrospective

by Karl Otty

This two-part series by Karl Otty is a wonderful read for anyone who loves ’90s racers, especially Ridge Racer. We love to celebrate formative game franchises; this labour of love from Karl is a fantastic look back at a true classic.

The Art of Exploration

by Andrew Dickinson

It’s been a special honour to publish several stories by Lost In Cult’s Andrew Dickinson (Editor in Chief of the Lock On gaming journal). This story is especially unique, as it discusses the history — and importance — of maps in video games, through the lens of Elden Ring.

Crafting Rewarding Moments with Elden Ring

by Felipe Dal Molin

The hits keep coming! Felipe Dal Molin published several in-depth game design pieces with us throughout April and May. If you recognise Felipe’s name, that’s because he’s the director of the hit indie racer, Horizon Chase Turbo. We are proud to provide a home for game developers to explore and reflect on creative ideas.

And many more…

Whether it’s Vitor M. Costa’s opus on game designer Yoko Taro, Cat Bussell’s reflections on the evolution of RPGs (featuring WarGamer.com’s Alex Evans), or Tristan Jung’s comprehensive game design analysis of the Kirby franchise, SUPERJUMP is absolutely packed to the gills with exclusive gaming stories you simply won’t find anywhere else.

We hope you’ll join us over at the new SUPERJUMP. Thank you for reading.

Kind regards,

James Burns
Editor in Chief
