I still think you’re painting with too broad a brush, though. Nobody is talking about the kind of socialist experiments you are referring to in your comments. I think most people would agree that those kinds of experiments haven’t been successful by and large.

The original article, in my view, is talking more about a fairly typical liberal democracy that seeks to balance a market economy with a reasonable social safety net.

I think that when we import the more extreme examples of socialism or communism into the debate, it just muddies the water. It raises a strawman that just confuses the issue.
