I feel the same way. And it's not that I don't like re-playing games. There are some games I re-play occasionally out of habit (like Super Mario Bros.). Right now, I'm re-playing the Uncharted games. These are games I could probably re-play once every couple of years, if only because of the emotions they evoke for me.

But I think that's still in a context where each game is a linear flow; you're constantly being thrown into new situations and new/different places.

Whereas with something like Nier: Automata, you're regularly re-visiting the same places over and over again. True, you're often doing different things in those places...but in one play through, you'll re-tread the same ground a lot. I think this works well on an initial play through because there's so much to be surprised by, especially the twists and turns of the plot. But you won't experience those same emotions again - at least, to the same degree - on a re-play.
