Great piece, Cameron. I think you are right that there's still value in physical media. There are some great indie gaming mags around now (Wireframe comes to mind). But also, writing about gaming is increasingly branching into other more premium offerings. I'm thinking about the books by Bitmap Books, ROM, and Cooke & Becker. Where more "disposable" products - like magazines - become more difficult to justify in terms of profit/loss, there's some really exciting stuff going on in the world of high-end books with luxurious materials.
