Fair points, although I would argue that the Xbox Series S actually might entice some folks who might otherwise not be able to afford diving into next-gen gaming.
An Xbox Series S subscription is something like $25USD per month. So, $300 per year. That’s roughly the equivalent of about five full-priced games.
Except that in this case we’re talking about the hardware and a software subscription that gives players access to many more games than that.
I think it’s tough to argue that this proposition won’t possibly make a difference for a lot of people, especially those who can’t bear (or aren’t prepared to bear) a high up-front cost to jump in.
Of course, we’ll have to wait and see how this bears out. It’s never been tried before, so it’s all-new territory.
